Roadtrippers

Six weeks, two friends, one car and a old school map. We are starting in NYC. Flying to New Orleans, from there we will pick up our car and drive for the next 5 weeks. We are at least going trough some of Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, some of Nevada and in the and California. This is my study of the US of The A. Done trough my camera.

Salton Sea is located in the Coachella Vally in California. This is a artificial sea that was made in 1900, and it had no irrigation canals. This made the salt accumulate and the salt made the sea so salty and all life died and the people moved away. It was expected to be the new Palm Springs.

The city’s around the sea got abandoned and has since the 50s degraded. It is just a shell left, and no one has demolished or rebuilt it. This shows a some of the human nature and how fleeting it is.

In 1881 Calico was founded and stated out as a booming silver mining town. As many other mining towns in the states the place died out when the silver ran out and abounded bit by bit. It was decaying until 2012, when the ghost town was remodeled and open for the public as an attraction.

This is Joshua Tree natural park. Its a desert area with a lot of weird stone formations and Joshua trees. This differs from home so much that I almost feel like an alien.

This is Vegas. It is a place were the American Dream goes to die. If you are a gambler, this is a place for you, but either way, you will always go home with less then you had. It could be pride, common sense or money.

As I walked trough the casino floor, I could walk up to people without them hearing a thing. They just play on, day or night. It is the same light, smell and sound all trough eternity.  The drinks came on trays from busty lady’s with sad faces, they had little clothing on and were there to make you stay put so you would put on the next 10 bucks.

This is zombie-land, were you don@t need to think - just gamble away your paycheck.
